Windrose raises an $18M Series A to make freight legible

Seattle — Windrose has raised an $18M Series A led by Saltmeadow Capital, with participation from Pier Nine Ventures and our existing investor Longitude Collective. The round brings our total funding to $23.5M.

Four years ago, checking on a single container could mean six carrier portals, two phone calls, and a fax. It mostly still does — unless you’re one of the 140 companies now running their freight on Windrose. Today the platform tracks 2.1 million shipments a month across more than 300 carrier and forwarder integrations, with ETAs teams can actually promise and exception alerts that reach an owner in a median of twelve minutes.

Freight visibility has been promised for a decade. Windrose is the first team we’ve met that treats it as an infrastructure problem instead of a dashboard problem — and their retention numbers show it.

What the money does

  • EU data residency. A Frankfurt region for customers who need their shipment data to stay in Europe, targeted for later this year.
  • Rail, properly. Deeper coverage of North American and European rail interchanges — the leg where visibility traditionally goes to die.
  • A bigger crew. We’re roughly doubling engineering. The open roles are posted, salary bands included.

“We didn’t raise to move faster on everything,” said Amara Osei, co-founder and CEO. “We raised to be dependable in more places. Boring on purpose scales surprisingly well.”

To our customers: thank you for trusting us with the unglamorous middle of your supply chain. To everyone else: the trial is fourteen days and the board fills up fast.
